GREAT NEWS!!!  OUR MOTORCYCLE CLASSES ARE BACK!!!

16 HOUR, THREE-DAY COURSE -
DMV Certificate Awarded

(upon successful completion of course)
California Motorcyclist Safety Program offers the Motorcyclist Training Course (MTC), which is designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience. This 16 hour, three-day course includes both online zoom classes and on-cycle instruction. Although designed for new riders, any rider that has not taken a motorcycle course will benefit from this course. You will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies. Topics covered include fear, understanding how motorcycles turn, proper cornering strategies, and emergency crash avoidance skills. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods.

This course is mandatory for those under 21 years of age desiring a motorcycle or scooter license. The class fee is discounted to $395 for students under 21 (proof of age required upon first day of class). For students under 18, a parent must show ID (or legal guardian proof of guardianship) and sign a waiver at the start of the first class.

The course runs during the week and on weekends, Thursday, 6:00pm-9:30pm (online zoom instruction)Saturday from 6:15am to 11:45am (riding instruction), Saturday 12:15pm-4:30pm (in-person classroom instruction and written exam) and Sunday from 6:15am to 11:45am (riding instruction and riding skills exam).  You will have 6 hours of online zoom and in-person classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding instruction.  Be sure to arrive approximately :30 minutes prior to the start of your class in order to park and complete any paperwork necessary for your course.  You must be in your seat at the start of class - if you are late, you will be dismissed from the class.

Please bring water, snack(s) and a sack lunch, as there will not be enough time to leave campus to purchase food.  When there are breaks, you also need to return at the designated time or you will not be able to continue and will be dismissed.

It is mandatory for you to bring either a valid CA DMV driver’s license, permit or ID card to the first class.
A motorcycle will be provided for you in this course; if you are wanting to complete the course on a scooter, you must notify us upon registering for the class. CMSP requires a durable leather or textile motorcycle-specific jacket, sturdy long pants without rips or holes, full-fingered street-specific motorcycle or leather gloves, tough, over-the-ankle shoes or boots, full-length socks (no ankle socks); you must have no exposed skin showing and eye protection (glasses, sunglasses, face shield, etc). We can provide a helmet, but if you bring your own, it must be three-quarter, full face or modular and DOT-approved. You need protection on every part of your body - if you do not show up to class with the proper gear, you will be dismissed.

In order to be successful in this course, you are required to have physical stamina, motor-coordination, the ability to ride and balance a bicycle and mental alertness. In accordance with State safety standards, early dismissal may occur during the riding portion of the class if you do not demonstrate safe riding techniques (as determined by the instructor).  Your attendance and participation is not a guarantee that you will be able to successfully complete the course and be granted the certificate of completion.

Students successfully completing the class will receive the DMV completion certificate, which may waive the riding skills test at the California DMV.  Your certificate will be mailed to you within 10 working days of your course completion.  (Note:  You will still need to take the written test at the DMV).
