The Notary application can be found at notary-app.pdf (ca.gov). You are encouraged to review (download or print) the Notary Handbook at www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/ no-tary_hdbk.htm or contact C.P.S. at (916) 263-3520 to request a copy.
IN-PERSON INSTRUCTIONS:
Important: Please arrive by 7:30am to find parking and check in by 8am. Students must be on time. Late arrivals will be asked to leave and no transfer/refund will be issued. The instructional course ends at 4:30pm and the State-administered test is then conducted until approximately 5:45pm.
Please bring the following:
•You must present a valid form of ID in order to take the class: CA Drivers License or ID, and Passport. Your picture must be clear and must be the same person who checks in.
•a passport photo (2” x 2” headshot) with your application is required in order for your application to be processed in a timely manner. You must bring the following to the test:
• Photo ID (driver’s license, state ID or passport)
• Secretary of State application (please fill out in advance)
• Two No. 2 pencils Plus $35 material fee, payable to Instructor for handbook and certificate issued by Notary Education Seminars.
•A $40 check or money order (no cash or debit) (separate check from each participant) payable to the Secretary of State (new or renewals).
PRIOR TO CLASS, if you'd like to read up on the subject prior to the class, you can download or print the Notary Pubic Handbook from the C.P.S. web site: www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/notary_hdbk.htm. Alternatively, you can request a free copy of the Handbook - contact C.P.S. at (916) 263-3520 (note: to ensure you have it before your class, you will need to request the copy at least 2 weeks prior to your scheduled class.
